Cobalt Drift Neo Version Log

User-facing update history for Cobalt Drift Neo: sound engine, GUI, browser workflow, expansion handling, filter character, FX, and DAW stability. Developer-only build and diagnostic notes are intentionally omitted.

v1.3.3

Expansion Import and Preset State

New

  • Added GUI drag-and-drop import for .neo expansion files, allowing Factory and additional banks to be registered directly from the plugin window.
  • Added an Init-first workflow where users start from Init Bank / Init Preset and import Factory, Factory Lite, Factory 1.1, Factory Lite 1.1, or other .neo expansions as needed.
  • Added CPU-light Lite expansion banks as an option for large DAW projects or multiple plugin instances.

Improve

  • Improved preset state persistence when closing and reopening the plugin window, keeping the selected Bank, Category, and Preset.
  • Improved bank switching so imported banks can be auditioned quickly from the top of the selected category.
  • Improved Filter, Envelope, and LFO readability by cleaning label placement around knobs and values.

Fix

  • Fixed overlapping text around Filter Cutoff, Envelope Attack / Decay, and LFO Time / Level controls.
  • Fixed .neo drag-and-drop registration from the GUI.
  • Fixed a browser state issue where reopening the plugin could show Init instead of the previously selected preset.
v1.3.2

DAW Stability and CPU Behavior

New

  • Added stronger response to host MIDI stop, All Notes Off, and All Sound Off messages.
  • Added safer recovery behavior for high-unison sounds, heavy FX presets, and dense chord playback.

Improve

  • Improved DAW interaction while the GUI is open, reducing cases where mouse, resize, or transport control could feel blocked.
  • Improved CPU behavior for chord playback with Lead, Pad, Pluck, and FX-heavy presets.
  • Improved consistency across Standalone, VST3, and CLAP operation.

Fix

  • Fixed cases where sound could continue after MIDI playback stopped.
  • Fixed cases where DAW playback or GUI operation could become less responsive while Cobalt Drift Neo was open.
  • Fixed stability issues that could appear when playing high-load presets with the GUI visible.
v1.3.0

GUI, Browser, FX, and Lite Filters

New

  • Added FX All Kill to disable all effects at once and reduce CPU use.
  • Added dropdown Browser sorting by Preset Name, Type, Character, BPM, and Rating.
  • Added explicit Lite filter choices, including Diode SVF 24 Lite, MG Ladder 24 Lite, MS20 Lowpass Lite, MS20 Highpass Lite, Sallen LP 12 Lite, Pro TPT LP 12 Lite, and Warm TPT LP 12 Lite.

Improve

  • Improved OSC, Filter, Envelope, LFO, FX, and Browser layouts with a cleaner tile-oriented interface.
  • Improved Filter workflow by separating Rich and Lite choices, making CPU-friendly filter options easier to find.
  • Improved Envelope and LFO tabs, knob styling, active states, and Filter 1 / Filter 2 layout readability.

Fix

  • Removed unnecessary blue outlines from OSC, Filter, Envelope, and LFO sections.
  • Improved FX on/off and FX All Kill stability.
  • Changed Browser sorting from click-based sorting to dropdown-based sorting to reduce accidental operation.
v1.2.0

Filter Routing and OSC Destination

New

  • Added Serial / Parallel routing for Filter 1 and Filter 2.
  • Added OSC A / B / C Filter Destination options for Filter 1, Filter 2, and None.

Improve

  • Improved stacked lowpass, parallel band/notch, and clean oscillator-layer workflows.
  • Improved same-note retrigger handling, release-tail behavior, Standalone responsiveness, and MG Ladder closed-cutoff behavior.

Fix

  • Fixed expansion preset-switch crash cases.
  • Fixed MG Ladder low-cutoff dry-like leakage and duplicate same-pitch voice buildup.
v1.1

Hybrid OSC, Filter Character, Lite Banks, and FX Upgrades

New

  • Added Wavetable Hybrid Rendering for Saw, Square, Pulse, Bright Saw, Soft Wide Saw, Reece Saw, and Pluck Saw.
  • Added Eco / Standard / High CPU Quality behavior, SuperWave Lite behavior, and Lite expansion banks.
  • Added OSC Drift controls, Delay Saturation, larger FX Editor displays, mouse-editable EQ / Reverb / Saturator graph points, and drag-and-drop FX slot reordering.

Improve

  • Improved SuperWave / HyperSaw response, dense unison stability, voice headroom, and CPU-conscious playback.
  • Improved Filter Character across Ladder, Diode, OTA, Sallen, MS20, Band / Peak, Comb, and Formant-style families.
  • Improved the 6-slot FX Rack with warmer delay, clearer reverb spaces, stronger saturation/distortion tone, and direct graph editing.
  • Improved loudness balance across Pluck, Pad, Arp / Sequence, Atmos / FX, and Keys / Chords categories.

Fix

  • Fixed MS20 Lowpass cutoff step/drop behavior and overly similar Lowpass model responses.
  • Fixed weak OSC Drift audibility, display-only Saturator graph bands, and FX Editor feedback gaps after preset changes.
  • Fixed low-output categories and several GUI / preset browser edge cases.
v1.0

Initial Release and Early Refinements

New

  • Introduced the one-layer Cobalt Drift Neo architecture with OSC A / B / C, Main Filter, Envelope, LFO, MOD, Browser, and six-slot FX Rack pages.
  • Added Factory presets, .neo expansion import/export, and Standalone / VST3 / CLAP support.

Improve

  • Improved LFO display, filter layout, reverb and delay usability, warm saturation/distortion character, MOD Matrix presentation, preset handling, and OSC octave / mono retrigger behavior.

Fix

  • Fixed GUI overlap issues, imported expansion highlighting, bank selection behavior, and Standalone keyboard/audio setup issues.
